So, I decided to participate in Round 1 at somein30. I was so excited when the mods decided open the community! ^^ The theme for this round sounded really interesting, so I decided that I wanted to do extra hard mode for this round. It was called extra hard mode for a reason, lol! I did experience some frustration and wasn't happy with some of the icons, but overall, I was pleased with them. Some of the themes were conflicting, so I had to get really creative. #3 was hard because adding a light texture to an already bright and vibrant icon is pretty difficult. I almost wish I had chosen a different fandom because some of themes were difficult to find caps for. I didn't realize there weren't very many full body shots or faraway shots. ^^' I think some of them turned out pretty well though like #2, 10, and 13.

I thought about doing a Kim Yu-na set because I wasn't quite happy with some of my Emma icons. I also thought about doing two sets, but since I've started working again, I didn't have as much time as I planned.

Wow at #5! Minimalism and color explosion seems like a hard thing to combine, but you totally made it work out great!
#10 and #15 are my favorites, gorgeous set!

Oh wow, 16 icons on extra hard! That's a lot of dedication to the challenge and your results are so cool and creative!

I looove the extra vibrant colors on 1. 2 is super atmospheric, the lighting is indeed dramatic and I really love the use of the animated lightning! I hear your concerns about light textures on top of brightness but I think you managed that difficult combination great, the super bright and vibrant overall look on 3 is absolutely gorgeous :)

The coloring in 6 is great and I love how creatively you solved the prompt combination - having a color explosion on one block and leaving minimalism on the other.
Also I adore your executions of blending and collage on 9 and 10 - honestly these two themes were the hardest ones on the board (especially since I don't think I explained them well at all) but this is exactly what I had in mind, I think you pulled them off perfectly. The combination of all kinds of scrapbooky stuff on 10 makes it an awesome collage even with just one subject, and the mysterious lighting in 9 helps the caps blend together so smoothly.

14 is fantastic, I love the composion and the texture use. 15 is gorgeous too, love the lighting and the colors stand out super nicely against the black. And finally, 16 is super beautiful, I love the way the light draws the eye to the center where the action is, and also whoa you must have been cutting this image out for ages, so many tiny details in the silhouette! Awesome job!
I also love your fifth alt a lot, super fun composition and lovely colors :)

I really enjoyed the themes for this round, even though some were pretty difficult! I think it really stretched my creativity! ^^ I'm not very creative, so it definitely helps to have inspiration! The themes and the examples were very inspiring and helpful! ^^

The collage one was a bit of a challenge because I don't usually do collages. Lol, I cheated a bit on #16! The opening credits were silhouettes, so I didn't have to cut anything, just had to pick a good screencap.

I think you did a really great job and I totally understand struggling fandom choice. Coincidentally, I chose the 2020 Emma and was on the verge of giving up because I could not always find the caps I wanted.

I cannot stress how much I adore 2. The lighting, the text and the silhouette! I mean, if I didnt know the fandom, I would assume it was from some gothic horror movie!

Love the use of text in 6 and also, I really like the colour choices. They are unusual and dramatic!

The composition of 7 looks so crisp and neat, I also love that you added negative space to the icon. And of course, great use of geometrics! And lastly 16, ohmygosh, the romance of it, as well as the colouring!! So impressively done.

I love what you said about #2! The screencap was very normal, but I thought it would be interesting to add lightning to give it a more dramatic look! ^^ #6 turned out better than I expected. It was sooo hard to find far away caps that featured the main characters. Getting an unnatural look was hard at first, but after experimenting with different color combinations in gradient map in combination with a texture layer mask, I was to get the unnatural look to be more interesting than the usual monochrome look.

I admire you so much for making so many icons on extra hard mode and for one specific fandom! They look so good and I thought you represented all of them so well -- especially those that had such opposite prompts (like minimalism and color explosion - 5 is stunning).
Lovely colors and compositions all around. 5, 15, and 16 are so beautiful but I also love the moodiness of 2 (truly dramatic), the simplicity of 4, 8 (that coloring!) and 14 :)
The alts are also great and I love that most of them are pink or fit well with pink, haha! That's amazing. 1, 4, 8 and 9 are my faves out of those.

I thought about doing different fandoms, but I wanted there to be something cohesive in all of my icons. I also thought it'd be fun to work with some techniques that I've never used in this fandom.

Lol, the opposite prompts were pretty difficult, so it definitely took some creativity to work with them. This round definitely challenged me! ^^

Yeah, for some reason, the alts ended up going toward pink, lol! It wasn't planned though, lol!

These are wonderful! Love the colors ; the balance of vibrant and muted tone is stunning and the contrast is amazing! I love the fake bg of 1 and the colors. I love the powerful flash of 2 and the contrast there is stunning. 3 has so beautiful nature colors and the lighting is so pretty! 5 has so great crop and I love the idea of color explosion! :) I love the muted tone of 8 and 10 has wonderful texture use and the colors ♥♥ 14 has very awesome levels work and the contrast is amazing! I love the silhouette of 16! stunning ♥
